Jarlath Glynn

My name is Mr Jarlath Glynn, and I am delighted to be joining the DBSJ community.

A little bit about me – I was born and raised in Ireland, a beautiful spot at the end of the rainbow called Castlebar, County Mayo.

Initially, I studied Physical Education BSc before finding my true calling and completing my PGCE Primary Education with QTS at the University of Wales, Bangor.

Since then, I have had the privilege of doing what I love most in this world – teaching – and have been now for 15 years. Previously, I spent close to 5 years working in London before moving to the dream destination that is Dubai.

Over the years, I have had the pleasure and privilege to have had opportunities to work in a variety of socially and economically diverse school environments. I have taught from Year 2 – Year 6 while being Head of Years 3 and 4.

Every day, I aim to embody my motto: “Aspire to inspire.” I truly believe that relationships are at the core of everything we do. My aim is to always make the classroom a fun, kind, and ambitious space where curiosity, reflection and industry are key! I am deeply committed to inclusive and innovative education that raises standards and inspires excellence.

By nature, I am an incredibly curious person, who loves learning! I’m a huge advocator of exploring and understanding the world around me.

Outside of the classroom, every opportunity I get I aim to travel and experience something new. I find this truly empowering. My other passions in life include Reading – in particular biographies but I am a huge fan of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse which encourages us to really understand what is important in life, as well as Roald Dahl classics like Matilda and James & the Giant Peach. I do love going to the Cinema, playing Gaelic Football, and one of my true loves in life is supporting Arsenal!
