How to Apply

A World Class School Offering the British Curriculum

The application process to join Dubai British School Jumeira is outlined below.

  • Submit your application for your child(ren) and register your account on our admissions portal.
  • Submit the below documents after your application. You can go to your checklist in the admissions portal:
    • A copy of your child’s recent school reports in English (if applicable; official translations only)
    • A copy of your child’s passport and Emirates ID
    • A copy of each parent/guardian’s passport and Emirates ID
    • A copy of your child’s birth certificate
    • A copy of any diagnostic testing or educational assessment and/or any psychological assessments in English (if applicable; official translations only)
    • The email address of your child’s teacher at the school for a reference
  • Contact the admissions team if you have any queries or wish to book a tour at one of our sister schools. You can reach them at admissions@dubaibritishschooljumeira.ae.
  • Please pay the AED 525 (non-refundable) Application Fee, including 5% VAT, in person at our Taaleem central office, by bank transfer, or through the Credit Card Authorisation Form.
  • Our assessment slots are currently available during school days. To book an assessment, please contact our admissions team at admissions@dubaibritishschooljumeira.ae.
  • For families coming from overseas, Dubai residency visas, Emirates ID’s are not required at the time of application but must be submitted to DBS by the KHDA registration deadline. If these are in process, please provide a copy of the relevant application form in the meantime.
  • For children coming from overseas and other Emirates, a transfer certificate provided by the student is required by the time of joining DBS, but not at the time of application. Further information on Transfer Certificates can be found here.
  • As required by the UAE’s Ministry of Education and for us to be able to register your child legally with the KHDA, it is mandatory that we receive a Transfer Certificate (TC) from the school your child will transfer from. Registration at any school in Dubai without a TC is not possible.
  • For children coming from other schools within Dubai, please reach out to your current school’s admissions team at the end of the current academic year to issue the transfer certificate. This transfer certificate will be released if the parent has fulfilled all obligations to the previous school, which may include financial obligations and/or completing a written leaving notice form.
  • All children entering Year 2 and upwards who are coming from overseas or another Emirate must provide an original Transfer Certificate regardless of the country or curriculum of origin.

  • All children are assessed prior to entry. For overseas applicants, assessments may be completed from abroad. The admissions team will contact you regarding your child’s current school facilitating an assessment and a reference. You will be notified of an admission decision shortly following the assessment.
  • If an offer of a place is made, parents have 5 working days to return acceptance paperwork and pay a registration deposit which will be deducted from the joining term’s fees.
  • Students already enrolled in another Dubai British School campus must discuss the transfer request with the Head of School or Principal prior to applying.If you have any other questions please email us on: admissions@dubaibritishschooljumeira.ae.

Register with KHDA

Once you have been notified of your child’s placement decision and the registration and relevant term fees have been paid, a contract is deemed to exist between the school and the parents/guardians, provided that the school regulations are observed. The school reserves the right to place your child in a class deemed to be the most appropriate, within the bounds of the KHDA guidelines.

As a requirement by the United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Education and for us to be able to register your child legally with the KHDA (Knowledge and Human Development Authority), it is mandatory that we receive a Transfer Certificate (TC) from your child’s current school. Registration at any school in Dubai without a TC is not possible.

KHDA Leaving Certificate

Another Emirate/overseas:
School Leaving Certificate for Years 3 and above as per KHDA requirements. – to be submitted by 15 August or within 30 days of joining if mid-year

Please note that the certificate must not be dated more than three months prior to the date of entry to the new school.

Attested from the Ministry of Education in the country from which the student is coming.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation of the country from which the student is coming, or the attestation of this country's embassy in the Emirates.
Attestation of the Emirati embassy or consulate in the country from which the student is coming, or the attestation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Emirates.
